Park Update

December 30, 2009 by Will   Comments (0)

Last night we pulled all the features off of the top portion of Rhododendron Glen in order to prepare for some MAJOR snowmaking until we've got the material we need to start building larger scale features.  Right now we are planning on building a three jump line with some slopestyle features mixed in on the right hand side of the trail, and an expert rail line on the left.  I'll keep you guys posted on the project but if we get good snowmaking temperatures we'll be back on rhodo quick.

Meanwhile we've added features to Turkey Trot and will be changing up the rest of the parks while we wait to build Rhodo.  Hope everyone is having fun, I'll try to get some pictures and videos up soon if I get time.  If anybody has anything they'd like to submit to the CBK website be sure to send it to either myself or Ross.  We could really use more rider submitted media.

Are you ready?

So i've been watching the new feature poll and it seems like you guys are liking the mini wall idea a lot.  Kraig, Ryan and I have been chopping, grinding, welding, sanding and painting away to put some fresh new features on the hill this season.  For those of you who have been around CBK for a while you may recognize some of our creations.  Can anybody spot Jibzilla in its latest reincarnation?

Keep and eye on our website for more info on snowmaking and an early season park.  The snowmakers are ready to fire our guns up as soon as we get a good snowmaking window.  Dont forget last season we had a park open on tubing Nov. 16th (which just happens to be my birthday).  Wearing your pajamas inside out will statistically increase our chances of snow.  DO IT

Its snowing!!

I would highly suggest coming to ride the turf today.  There's a few inches of snow on it and its still coming down like crazy right now.  I can't see the top of the mountain at all.  Should be a fun day.  Dont miss riding the first natural snow in PA!!

turfwork

So while all of you school aged kids are working so so hard on your first homework assignments of the year, I'll be preparing the Turf for CBK Saturdays... Today i'll start pressure washing all of the muck and crud off the turf along with trimming any fraying pieces.  This will improve how it rides for 9/19 which is the first saturday that we'll be open to the public for the fall.

Then tomorrow or Monday i'll roll up all of the pieces to freshen up the mulch.  Expect a change in setup and a smoother rebuilt tranny when I'm all through.  Keep checking back for more information on CBK Saturdays.  You wont want to miss out, start riding next week!

Reduce Reuse Recycle RIDE

So I've decided to take some initiative and further Camelback's quest to go green by RECYCLING!!!  So rather than ordering a bunch of fresh material and building shiny new features, I'm going to build shiny new features out of junk.  I also am slightly obsessed with Burton's "Stash" project so expect some natural jibs and whatnot.  I'm trying to draw (haha beware, i'm not an artist)  some sketches of what i'm looking to create.  The more feedback I get the better.  Watch for a suggestion box of sorts on the site soon.

Summer Blues

So the past couple days i've been trying to make some sort of plan of attack for the winter season.  I'm not sure how much of a plan this really is, but you'll probably get the gist of things.

-Relocate the NEW AND IMPROVED Planet rails and boxes

-Play with my super cool new stencils

-Finish signage, benches, trash cans and other misc. stuff

-Build some "natural" type features. (watch out on cbkactionsports.com for your chance to choose what i build)

-Refurbish some oldies but goodies.  Look out for the throwback rails!!

-Measure the halfpipe (we learned some sweet pipe cutting tricks at Cutter's Camp...)

-Recycle some rusty beat up junk by turning it into shreddable, fun junk...

-Wear my pajamas inside out every day until it gets cold enough to make snow (it helps i promise)
